Ukraine issues 2,000-hryvnia banknote honouring dissident poet Vasyl Stus from 4 September

The National Bank of Ukraine will issue a new 2,000-hryvnia banknote (approximately 170 PLN / €4) on 4 September, honouring poet and Soviet-era dissident Vasyl Stus. Stus resisted the USSR and reportedly said he regretted not being Polish. The note represents the highest denomination in the history of Ukrainian currency.
