VW Group Restructuring Plan Rejected 12-7 as Unions Vote It Down
Volkswagen Group's supervisory board rejected a restructuring plan by a 12-7 vote on Wednesday. The plan, aimed at reversing evaporating profit margins, stopped short of explicitly calling for factory closures or mass layoffs. Worker unions, which hold half of the 20 supervisory board seats, played a decisive role in blocking the proposal. VW continues to struggle with costly tariffs and eroding market share in China and North America.
