BMW explains X5's off-road limits — a harder rival to Defender and G-Class may still come

BMW has explained that the X5 is deliberately not more off-road focused, arguing its current capability already exceeds what most owners ever need. However, the German automaker has hinted it may still introduce a separate model specifically designed to take on the Land Rover Defender and Mercedes-Benz G-Class in the hardcore off-road segment.
