Turkey seeks to ditch Russian S-400 systems in exchange for US F-35 jets

Turkey is actively seeking to dispose of its Russian-made S-400 surface-to-air missile systems in order to mend ties with Washington. In return, Ankara hopes to receive approval to purchase fifth-generation stealth F-35 fighter jets from the United States. Turkey was excluded from the F-35 programme after acquiring the S-400 systems from Russia.
