Poland's Population Shrinks as EU Grows for Fifth Consecutive Year

As of 1 January 2026, the EU's population stood at 452 million, up by 706,000 from the previous year, according to Eurostat. This marks the fifth consecutive year of population growth across the bloc. Poland bucked the trend, recording another decline in its population.
