EasyJet agrees £5.7bn takeover by Apollo, beating Castlelake bid

British budget airline EasyJet has reached an agreement in principle to be taken over by U.S. private equity firm Apollo for £5.7 billion ($7.7 billion). The deal beats a rival bid from fellow American investor Castlelake. The transaction still requires formal approval.
