Sosnowski's hogweed returns in summer — causes severe chemical burns up to 3rd degree

Sosnowski's hogweed, nicknamed "Stalin's revenge", is again appearing on Polish meadows, roadsides and gardens this summer. The plant looks harmless but contact with its sap in sunny conditions causes chemical burns of the second or third degree requiring hospital treatment. Authorities have issued warnings urging people to avoid contact with the plant.
