Unknown prehistoric stone circle found buried on Scottish island of Arran

Archaeologists from Historic Environment Scotland have discovered a seventh stone circle at the Machrie Moor site on the island of Arran, using advanced geophysical scanning. The survey revealed 12 circular pits forming a regular ring beneath the peat surface, invisible to the naked eye. Machrie Moor is already known for six stone circles dating from 3500 to 1500 BC.
