European Parliament backs scanning private chats for child sexual abuse material
The European Parliament in Strasbourg has voted in favour of allowing authorities to scan private messages on messaging apps for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The decision opens the door to mass surveillance of encrypted communications and has alarmed privacy advocates.
