GLAAD: LGBTQ characters in Hollywood films declining, most common in horror
GLAAD's annual report analysed 225 films from the 10 largest Hollywood studios, including Netflix, Apple and Amazon, released in 2025. LGBTQ characters appeared in just 46 films, down from 59 in 2024, marking the third consecutive year of decline. The total number of such characters fell from 181 to 112, with horror films being the genre most likely to feature them. Representation of non-white, bisexual and transgender characters dropped most sharply.
