Over 80% of recruiters prefer slim candidates with equal qualifications – Polish study
Research by sociologist Dr Martyna Krogulec-Łęska of the Academy of Humanities and Economics (AHE) in Łódź found that over 80% of recruiters prefer to hire a slim candidate over an overweight one when qualifications are equal. Body shape is becoming one of the most uncompromising criteria by which job candidates are judged. The findings highlight widespread appearance-based discrimination in recruitment.
