Ebola spreads in DRC — 1,759 cases and 600 deaths recorded

The Democratic Republic of the Congo has recorded 1,759 Ebola cases and 600 deaths as of 8 July, with the virus spreading to Uganda where 20 cases and 2 deaths have been confirmed. The outbreak is being accelerated by misinformation, violence against volunteers and treatment centres, cuts to humanitarian aid, and ongoing armed conflict in the region.
