Justice Ministry wants fines raised tenfold – up to PLN 10.8 million

Poland's Ministry of Justice is planning to raise criminal fines tenfold. Under the proposed changes, the minimum fine would be PLN 1,000 and the maximum could reach PLN 10.8 million. However, Prof. Tomasz Safjański of the WSB Academy warns that drastic increases may only lead to more insolvent offenders rather than deter crime.
