Wally Funk, oldest woman to fly to space, dies aged 87

Wally Funk, a pioneering aviator and spaceflight trailblazer, has died at the age of 87. She was one of 13 female pilots who underwent the same rigorous tests as NASA's all-male astronaut corps in the early 1960s but was denied a place in the programme. Funk eventually flew to space, becoming the oldest woman ever to do so.
