All new EU cars must now have a camera watching the driver's face

As of this week, all new vehicles registered in the EU must be fitted with an Advanced Driver Distraction Warning (ADDW) system, which uses a camera to monitor the driver's face. The requirement stems from an expansion of the EU's General Safety Regulation. Additional new mandates include emergency braking systems that detect pedestrians and cyclists. Privacy advocates have already raised concerns about data collected by the cameras.
