Tiny Indonesian Island Karimun Funnels $1.6 Billion in Russian Oil Across Asia

The tiny Indonesian island of Karimun, near Singapore, has become a key hub through which at least $1.6 billion worth of Russian diesel, fuel oil and other petroleum products have been channelled into major Asian markets. The route allows Russia to circumvent Western sanctions on its energy exports. Moscow continues to earn significant revenues from oil sales through such workarounds.
