SpaceX Files FCC Application to Operate 100,000 Next-Gen Starlink Satellites

SpaceX has filed an application with the FCC to operate a constellation of 100,000 "Gen3" satellites in low Earth orbit at altitudes of 320–480 km. The company currently runs roughly 10,800 Starlink satellites and has approval for about 4,000 more. The new generation satellites would weigh 2,000–2,500 kg each with a surface area of 300–400 square metres, making them far larger than existing units.
