iHeartMedia Enters FCC Consent Decree After Payola Probe Over Festival Airplay

iHeartMedia has agreed to a consent decree with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to settle a payola investigation. The probe examined whether the broadcaster gave artists more or less airplay based on whether they performed for free or at a reduced fee at a company-sponsored festival in Austin last year. iHeartMedia must now develop a regulatory compliance plan.
