Balicki: 300 hospital owners and over-contracting are destroying Poland's healthcare system

Former Polish health minister Marek Balicki identified several root causes of dysfunction in Poland's healthcare system: around 300 separate hospital owners, excessive reliance on short-term contracts (dubbed "kontraktoza"), a lack of effective oversight, and unequal funding of medical procedures. Balicki said these factors together create systemic dysfunction. He called for structural reforms to fix the system.
