Over 5,100 heat deaths recorded in Germany between April and June 2026
Germany's Robert Koch Institute has linked 5,120 deaths to heat between 6 April and 28 June 2026, with mortality rising sharply whenever the weekly average temperature exceeded 20°C. Similar alarming figures have also been reported from France, pointing to a serious public health crisis across Western Europe.
