Babies sync movement to music in their first year of life

A study published in eLife found that infants respond to music with spontaneous body movements from the first months after birth. Auditory and motor responses develop in parallel across the first postnatal year. The findings suggest an innate tendency to synchronise movement with sound, predating language acquisition.
