TIFF 2026 opens with Siân Heder's Being Heumann, plus world premieres announced

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2026 has announced its first selections, with Siân Heder's Being Heumann — from the CODA director — as the opening film, distributed by Apple under Heder's overall deal with the platform. World premieres were also announced for Prima Facie and The Assassin(s). Industry figures including Roeg Sutherland, Arianna Bocco, Vincent Maraval and Michael Barker voiced support for the newly launched TIFF Market.
