"Nashville's Star-Spangled Bash," a three-hour Independence Day special hosted by Ryan Seacrest, averaged 5.4 million viewers on ABC with a 0.83 rating among adults 18–49. It became the most-watched primetime programme of the July 4th holiday. This marks the first time any network has beaten NBC in primetime on Independence Day.
