US licenses Ukraine to manufacture Patriot air defence missiles
US President Donald Trump announced at a NATO summit meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky on July 8 that the US will license Ukraine to manufacture Patriot air defence missiles — a major breakthrough for Kyiv, which has long sought the technology. On the same day, Russian strikes killed at least seven people in Ukraine, while Kyiv's military claimed it hit several Russian tankers in overnight attacks. The licence allows Ukraine to produce the missiles domestically, significantly boosting its long-term air defence capacity.
