Syria's voting rights restored at chemical weapons watchdog OPCW
The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has restored Syria's voting rights, citing a "change in circumstances." Syria joined the watchdog in 2013 but was stripped of its rights in 2021 following findings of chemical weapons use. The reinstatement marks Syria's return to full participation in the body.
