UniCredit tops 47% stake in Commerzbank as Germany cries "hostile takeover"

Italian banking group UniCredit has grown its stake in Germany's Commerzbank to over 47%, edging closer to taking strategic control of the German lender. The German federal government, which still holds a 12% stake, has condemned UniCredit's approach as "aggressive", "hostile" and "unacceptable". Berlin is resisting the takeover amid growing cross-border tensions in European banking.
