Burnham steps up for Labour leader; Farage faces Count Binface in Clacton
Andy Burnham became the only sitting Labour MP to formally declare his candidacy for Labour leader on July 9, after nominations to replace Keir Starmer officially opened, bringing him closer to a potential bid for prime minister. Separately, a by-election is taking place in Clacton, where far-right leader Nigel Farage will face comic candidate Count Binface among others. Both contests could significantly shape the direction of British politics.
