Scattered Spider suspect caught thanks to Windows telemetry data

19-year-old Peter Stokes, an alleged member of hacking group Scattered Spider, was arrested partly thanks to Windows GDID telemetry data. Scattered Spider is linked to over 100 network intrusions and more than $100 million in ransom payments. In May last year, the group social-engineered a jeweller's IT helpdesk to obtain password reset credentials and access three accounts.
