Intimate Life in Communist Poland: Abortion and Withdrawal Were Main Contraception

In 1960s Gomułka-era Poland, many women had no concept of orgasm and men were warned against condoms. While the West experienced a sexual revolution, the most common contraceptive methods in communist Poland were withdrawal and abortion. The lack of sex education and modern contraception shaped Polish intimate life for decades.
