Nexstar fights $6.2B Tegna merger injunction, slams DirecTV and state AGs

Nexstar Media Group is pushing back against a federal injunction issued in April blocking its $6.2 billion merger with Tegna, accusing DirecTV and state attorneys general of a "cynical attempt to advance their own commercial and political interests." The Texas-based local TV giant also faces antitrust allegations and claims of political ties to the Trump administration. The legal battle comes as Nexstar vows to fight the pause on one of the largest local TV deals in recent years.
