Marine Cloud Brightening Could Neutralise a Super El Niño, Study Finds
Researchers modelled the effect of marine cloud brightening — spraying sea salt particles to make clouds reflect more sunlight — on an emerging super El Niño event and found it could completely neutralise it. The study is one of the most striking demonstrations yet of geoengineering as a potential climate intervention tool. Scientists caution that real-world deployment would raise significant governance and side-effect questions.
