Seeding ocean clouds with seawater could weaken a super El Niño

A new modelling study suggests that marine cloud brightening — seeding clouds with seawater — could shade the eastern Pacific Ocean and reduce the global temperature spike caused by a super El Niño. The technique works by increasing cloud reflectivity to bounce more solar radiation back into space. However, researchers warn that the intervention could have unexpected side effects.
