Trump threatens to cut all trade with Spain over NATO spending row

US President Donald Trump threatened on Wednesday to halt all trade with Spain, escalating a bitter dispute over Madrid's defence spending and Spain's refusal to support Washington in the conflict with Iran. "Spain is a wasted cause. We don't want to do any trade business with Spain anymore," Trump said on arrival at the NATO summit in Ankara. The threat reflects broader US pressure on NATO allies to meet the 2% of GDP defence spending target.
