Trump backs Ukraine building Patriot missiles, but the process will be long and difficult

US President Donald Trump suggested on Wednesday that Ukraine could be allowed to manufacture its own Patriot interceptor missiles amid chronic shortages caused by relentless Russian strikes. Experts warn, however, that building Patriot missiles is an enormously complex and time-consuming undertaking due to the technology involved and licensing requirements. Ukraine has been struggling with critical air-defence ammunition shortages for months.
