Kooij wins Tour de France stage five sprint in Pau
Dutch sprinter Olav Kooij of Decathlon CMA CGM won stage five of the 2026 Tour de France in Pau, comfortably beating Germany's Max Kanter (XDA Astana) in the first sprint finish of this year's race. Norway's Torstein Træen retained the overall leader's yellow jersey. Kooij, who won three stages at last year's Tour of Britain, said the victory means a great deal after a difficult spring season. The Tourmalet climb looms as the next major test.
