European Parliament criticises Zelensky for naming military unit after UPA heroes
The European Parliament adopted a resolution expressing regret over Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's decision to name an elite military unit after the "Heroes of the UPA". The EP described the move as an "unnecessary and unprovoked escalation". The Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) remains historically controversial, especially in Poland, due to wartime atrocities committed against Poles during World War II.
