Children's play sand sold in Australia released toxic airborne asbestos fibres

A study by Auckland University of Technology found that 90% of craft sand samples contaminated with asbestos released hazardous airborne asbestos fibres when children played with them. The products were sold in Australia, and the ACCC confirmed the findings. The research directly contradicts earlier assessments that had labelled the recalled products as "low risk."
