French top court to rule on Le Pen's appeal by early April, before presidential vote

France's Court of Cassation announced it will rule on Marine Le Pen's latest embezzlement appeal by early April, days before the April 18 first-round presidential vote. A three-judge panel on Tuesday upheld her guilty verdict and sentenced her to a year of house arrest. Le Pen, polling as the front-runner, has declared her candidacy and filed a further appeal; under French law, sentences are suspended pending the full legal process.
