Prime Medicine wins arbitration against Beam Therapeutics over gene-editing rights
Prime Medicine won an arbitration case against Beam Therapeutics, resolving a dispute between two gene-editing companies spun out of the same lab. An arbitrator ruled that Prime's work on a drug for the rare liver disease alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD) did not breach a 2019 non-compete agreement. The decision clears Prime to begin a clinical trial this quarter; its stock jumped 11% on Wednesday.
