16,430 deaths registered in Poland in two weeks of heatwave — doctors warn of monitoring gap

Poland's Ministry of Interior reported that 16,430 death certificates were registered in the country's Civil Registry over the past two weeks during the heatwave. Doctors warn that unlike other European countries, Poland has no ongoing system to monitor heat-related mortality in real time. The lack of systematic tracking makes it impossible to accurately assess the true death toll from extreme heat.
