Russian MP calls killing half of Ukraine's population "acceptable"

Alexei Zhuravlev, a deputy in Russia's State Duma, stated that killing up to half of Ukraine's population would be acceptable in order to "eliminate Nazism." The politician used the phrase "desirable elimination" in reference to Ukrainian civilians. The remarks have been widely condemned as an explicit call for genocide.
