Poland's all-time heat record broken: 40.5°C in Słubice, hot days doubled in decades

On 28 June 2026, Poland's Institute of Meteorology and Water Management recorded the highest temperature in the country's measurement history — 40.5°C in Słubice, surpassing the 105-year-old record of 40.2°C set in Prószków in 1921. Climate scientist Prof. Bogdan Chojnicki told PAP that the number of hot days in Poland has doubled over recent decades.
