Surgeon warns against guar gum, carrageenan and "natural flavours" — links them to gut inflammation
Dr Tarek Pacha, a urologist and surgeon, warns against three common food additives he strictly avoids himself: guar gum, carrageenan, and so-called "natural flavours". He says these substances — found in ice cream, processed meats and plant-based drinks — can cause gut inflammation, disrupt the digestive system and artificially stimulate hunger. Pacha urges consumers to check labels and eliminate these ingredients.
