Classical rabies virus never detected in wild bats in Poland or Europe

According to available scientific data, the classical rabies virus has never been detected in wild bats in Poland or anywhere else in Europe. Only other related lyssaviruses have been found in European bats. This fact is relevant to assessing the actual health risk posed by contact with these animals.
