Chinese scientists: deep nuclear detonation most effective against asteroid threat

A Chinese research team ran simulations to test how best to neutralise asteroids on a collision course with Earth, particularly when reaction time is limited. Their results show that detonating a nuclear charge deep inside the asteroid is the most effective method. The explosion breaks the object into smaller, less dangerous fragments.
