Polish hospital debts hit record 30 billion PLN — no minister resignation expected

The debts of 562 public hospitals in Poland exceeded 30 billion PLN at the end of Q1 2025 — nearly 5 billion PLN more than a year earlier. The Health Ministry is set to present a package of measures targeting excessive pay, seen as a key driver of the rising debt. Health Minister Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda is not expected to resign, and the Prime Minister has withdrawn an earlier ultimatum.
