Ex-CIA chief Burns warns of growing risk of Russian provocation against NATO

Former CIA Director William Burns has assessed that the risk of Russian provocation against Baltic states or Poland is real and growing, primarily because Putin faces increasing domestic pressure and is losing on the battlefield. US officials have taken note of reports about Kremlin plans, and The Washington Post reports that Europe is preparing for a possible Russian provocation. Burns stressed that escalation is more likely precisely because of Putin's internal difficulties.
