Broadway box office drops 20% to $29.3m during July 4th fireworks week

Broadway's total weekly box office fell 20% to $29,331,200 during the July 4th holiday week, as fireworks celebrations kept audiences away. Thirty-two productions were running, with three — Death Becomes Her, Giant and one other — having closed. Stars Maya Rudolph and Mariska Hargitay sold out their final weeks on stage.
