Original Nintendo Switch to stop selling in Europe in February 2026
Nintendo will stop selling the original Switch in Europe in February 2026, citing new EU regulations requiring easily replaceable batteries in consumer electronics. Rather than redesigning the 9-year-old console to comply, Nintendo chose to discontinue it in the region — a redesign it is only doing for the Switch 2. Sales outside Europe are unaffected for now, but Nintendo's focus has clearly shifted to the newer model.
