Trump promises Turkey F-35s and sanctions relief over S-400 purchase

At the NATO summit in Ankara, Donald Trump signalled that the US will allow Turkey to purchase F-35 fighter jets and will lift sanctions imposed over Ankara's acquisition of Russian S-400 air defence systems, according to Bloomberg. This would mark a significant reversal of long-standing US policy toward Turkey, which had been excluded from the F-35 programme since 2019.
